Kansas City International Airport will be adding screening rooms onto the back of the terminal buildings to house localized equipment that will x-ray checked baggage from the ticket counters, as well as curbside check-in. These new screening rooms will alleviate the congestion generated at the ticket counters where baggage security screening currently happens. The project includes multiple additions with conveyor connections, as well as an On-Screen Resolution area for remote monitoring. Wellner Architects has provided coordination with the airlines, airport, and TSA, as well as provided the architectural and coordination services for each of the additions and modification to the existing buildings.
