Wellner Architects completed a study of The Kansas City, Kansas City Hall in 2001, and made recommendations for the plaza repair and expansion. Due to 30 years of neglect, our recommendations included replacement of the structural deck at the plaza level, window replacement, exterior façade improvements, and building expansion at the plaza level. The building expansion at the plaza level will include space for several meeting rooms of different sizes and an auditorium. These spaces would be made available for city and public use.

At this time, Wellner Architects is proceeding with the replacement of the plaza level deck. This project will include the temporary relocation of police headquarters, abating, removing the plaza level deck so that repairs can be made to the concrete structure of the parking garage, and repairing the steel structure of occupied spaces.
