Wellner Architects provided programming and master planning services for expansions to Output Technologies Inc. and Boulevard Brewing Company. Both companies are located in the Summit District between 24th and 26th streets in Kansas City, Missouri. Output Technologies is planning an expansion of an additional mail pre-sort facility of approximately 50,000 square feet with associated parking and dock facilities. Boulevard Breweries is planning for an immediate, small expansion followed by a large expansion, which will increase brewing capacity to 250,000 barrels. Wellner Architects developed and presented several master plan options to the clients which maximized the opportunities for both companies, keeping in mind the limited amount of land available to either company.

Wellner Architects provided design services for an initial 3,950 square foot expansion of the Boulevard Brewing Company that included an office, toilets, storage, a clean-in-place system, a material handeling lift, brite beer tanks, and fermenting tanks to allow for an increased brewing capacity of 55,000 barrels a year. Provisions were made in the roof to allow additional tanks to be lowered into the building. The tanks became an integral part of both the interior and exterior design. Large windows on the front of the building were designed to showcase the brewing process. The building stepped down in the back to expose the tanks to the exterior.
