The contract Wellenr Architects had with the Post Office was an Indefinite Delivery Contract, in which Wellner provided basic architectural services for over 30 postal facilities throughout Missouri and Kansas. The scope of worked varied at each site.
This 9,200 square foot post office was built in 1933. Although the building is structurally sound and architecturally interesting, it has suffered many water penetration problems over the years and is not accessible to people in wheelchairs. The scope included installation of new main entry steps and sidewalk, modifications to the side entry (which included a new storefront system with door, new hardware, a new sidewalk and new steps), re-grade a portion of the site to improve the drainage around the building and to provide a barrier free entrance to the building, modifications to the lobby, improvements to the parking lot, including additional parking stalls, a new van-accessible stall, re-working the storm drainage, and re-grading and re-paving the lot, repair of the plaster and painting in the lobby, and repair and seal the exterior masonry.
The scope of work for this site included repairs to the main entry steps, sidewalk and railing, modifications to teh side entry, repairs to the roof, construction of new dock enclosures, installation of a new parking lot that included additional parking stalls, re-grading and paving of the lot and improved storm drainage, repair to the plaster and painting in the offices, the work room and the rest rooms, and repair and seal the exterior masonry.
The scope of work for this site included installation of a new ramp at teh north entry and modifications to the handicap entrance to comply with ABC, painting on the exterior and interior along with other miscellaneous finish repairs, repair, replace as required, tuckpoint and seal the exterior masonry, and replace pavement.
The scope of work for this site included installation of new entrance sidewalk and curb ramps for Architectural Barriers Compliance (ABC), addition of a handicapped parking stall for ABC, Replacement of windows and flooring, tuckpointing and repair of exterior brick, and clean and seal the exterior masonry.

The scope of work at this site included installation of a new ramp at the main entry and modifications to the entrance, addition of a handicapped parking stall, installation of sidewalk and curb ramps, and accessibility modifications to the existing vestibule to comply with ABC, extensive repair and replacement of exterior brick, painting on the exterior and interior along with other miscellaneous finish repairs, and an addition of a recessed scissor lift and a service ramp.
Improvements to the distribution center included painting the interior and exterior, pavement repairs, storm water system. and security cages.
